Sun, sea & savasana on the magical island of ibiza
Summary
September saw us embark on our first overseas retreat and it really was incredible! We took a group of 10 people from Guernsey to Ibiza for some sun, sea and savasana. The retreat took place at Ibiza Yoga, nestled in a pine forest in peaceful Benirras on Ibiza’s north coast, a stone’s throw from the beach. Read on to see what we got up to!
The magic of Ibiza
Ibiza’s reputation as a party island sometimes overshadows its laidback roots as a spiritual hippy island. Our retreat was about exploring this more traditional side of the island.
When not on the mat, there was plenty of time to explore Ibiza’s quieter side, from ancient caves to island hopping adventures, hot air balloon rides at sunrise, snorkelling in turquoise waters and relaxing on the beach.
The island revealed its most peaceful, spiritual self. Many participants found moments of reflection and wonder in the natural beauty surrounding them.
Oh, and did we mention the food? From beautiful tapas to traditional paella and sipping sangria in the sunshine, guests got a taste of Ibiza’s Spanish heritage, and certainly didn’t go hungry!

The retreat experience
If you’ve never experienced a yoga retreat before, hopefully this will encourage you to give it a try. Whether you’re looking to relax and escape from fast paced daily life, deepen your yoga practice, or meet some new people and explore a new place, there are so many benefits to a retreat! Our Ibiza retreat had the perfect blend of yoga and exploration.
What’s unique about an Evolution Adventures retreat is the perfect balance between being looked after by your dedicated host and having the freedom to explore and choose what you’d like to spend your time doing. We had morning and afternoon classes, varying in length and with plenty of downtime in between.
Classes ranged from beginner vinyasa-style flow sequences to yoga nidra and meditation sessions, as well as some strength-based faster sun salutations to get the blood pumping. There really was something for everyone, whatever your experience level or preferred yoga style.
Perhaps the most special part of the retreat was the sense of community with new friendships forming over shared experiences, laughter, and heartfelt conversations. Everyone left feeling rejuvenated and with memories and connections to last a lifetime.
The retreat was a reminder of the magic that happens when you take the time to slow down, care for yourself, and embrace the present moment. For those who joined us, Ibiza became more than just a destination – it became a place of transformation and inspiration.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to truly unplug, recharge, and reconnect with yourself, we hope this inspires you to take that leap and book yourself a retreat in 2025!
Our talented teacher

At very short notice, we found ourselves without a yoga teacher for the retreat, and were so very fortunate to be introduced to Vicky Godfrey, who very kindly stepped in. With just 2 weeks to prepare, she was incredible and got to know the group quickly, catered for their diverse yoga backgrounds and abilities with care and professionalism.
She shared her extensive yoga and meditation experience and pushed everyone to deepen their yoga journey and explore practices beyond their comfort zones.
Vicky has been a dedicated yoga teacher since 2011, having completed 11 diverse trainings in India with renowned yogis and swamis. Her deep exploration of yoga led her to study Osho meditation, eventually becoming a sannyasin (a person who dedicates their life to self awareness and aims to give a positive direction to humanity).
In addition to her extensive yoga background, Vicky is a trained naturopath, specialising in hormones, gut health, and cancer nutrition. She is also skilled in pregnancy yoga and yoga therapy for cancer, integrating her holistic approach to health and well-being in her practice. Drawing on this training, Vicky delivered a nutrition information session, providing the group with valuable advice to help them lead wholesome and healthy lifestyles. I know that we all learned so much from this session.
Originally from the UK, Vicky has lived in Ibiza with her family for several years now. Her local knowledge of the island was invaluable and provided the group with a unique perspective – an added bonus that made the retreat feel extra special.
Vicky’s rich knowledge and experience make her a unique guide on the journey to physical and spiritual wellness. We were so lucky to have shared the week with her and will be forever grateful for her contribution to making our first yoga retreat such a success!

Testimonials
We absolutely loved hosting our first retreat in Ibiza, but don’t just take our word for it, read what our guests had to say about it.
“My overall experience of the retreat was very good. Every enquiry was dealt with efficiently. Natalie had excellent awareness and attention to detail, e.g. noticing one guest was having a birthday and arranging a little celebration.”
“I found the yoga instructor good. She delivered yoga classes with asanas that everyone could do, and encouraged you to stretch yourself more if you wanted to. She made the classes fun with her chatty personality, adding snippets of knowledge she has learned from her yoga journey.”
“I enjoyed the optional activities. It was great to see different parts of Ibiza during the retreat. I particularly liked Ibiza Town and the restaurants chosen were of a very good quality and genuine of the culture.”
