We absolutely love hosting retreats in Herm, but don’t just take our word for it, read what our guests had to say about our previous Herm retreats…
“My overall experience of the retreat was very good. Every enquiry was dealt with efficiently. Natalie had excellent awareness and attention to detail. I really enjoyed the energy of the classes, the island setting and the meals were great – an excellent weekend!”
“I loved everything! I’ve never done a yoga retreat before so I had no expectations going into this, but it’s been absolutely fantastic! Everything was so well organised and thought out. Although we were only in Herm for a few days, it’s felt much longer than that! Same time next year?!”
“I loved the sense of friendship and support from new friends and the chance to try new things. There was a great mix of classes. Everything was so well organised with plenty of activities and also free time to explore Herm. It was my first visit and I loved how peaceful and quiet it was.”

what to expect…
Here’s a sample itinerary for this adventure, to give you an idea of what to expect, but please note that it may be subject to change for reasons outside of Evolution Adventures’ control.
- You are welcome to arrive in Herm anytime on Friday 30th October. The beautiful island is just a 20 minute boat journey from Guernsey, and typically depart at 10:30, 12:15, 14:15 and 16:15. Please check http://www.traveltrident.com/ for sailing times though, as they can be adjusted at short notice if it is very windy. For help with travel arrangements to/from Guernsey, please see the FAQs or get in touch with us.
- You’ll arrive into Herm Harbour (high tide) or Rosaire Steps (low tide). Make your way to the White House Hotel where you’ll be met by your Evolution Adventures host. Your room will be ready after 2pm, but you’re welcome to enjoy refreshments in the lounge or explore the island until then.
- If you arrive before lunch, you’ll be able to buy a meal from the Mermaid or pick up some snacks from the Herm Shop.
- There will be time in the afternoon for a sea swim, a gentle coastal walk, or to just relax by the fire or in your room.
- Once everyone has arrived and settled into their rooms, we’ll have a welcome briefing, with time to set intentions for the retreat, followed by our first class of the weekend.
- A delicious dinner will then be served at The Mermaid, where you’ll be able to chat with new friends.
- After dinner, there will be an optional Yoga Nidra session, which is a guided meditation laying on the mat, and the perfect way to prepare for a restful night of sleep.
- To start the day, we offer an early morning meditation and breathwork session, followed by a yoga or Pilates class to gently wake you up and energise you for the day ahead
- You’ll then have the option of joining the group for a sea swim, coinciding with the high tide, or relaxing at the hotel with a coffee/tea.
- Then you’ll tuck into a delicious brunch served at The Mermaid. The menu will be available closer to the time, but expect a selection of hearty breakfast favourites made to order, as well as a selection of breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, granola, etc. and tea, coffee and juices.
- Spend the rest of the morning enjoying some of the activities on offer, including a craft to take home with you, a coastal walk or sea swim, to immerse yourself in nature and the fresh sea air, or simply relaxing by the fire with a good book if you prefer.
- After this, you’ll have the option to join a yoga or Pilates class and perhaps try something new.
- A snack will be served after the class, including things like fresh fruit, nibbles and smoothies.
- There will be plenty of down time to do whatever feels right for you in the afternoon too.
- You’ll then gather for an early evening yoga or Pilates class.
- The day will come to a close chatting with new friends over another delicious and wholesome dinner at The Mermaid.
- After another comfortable night’s sleep, you’ll have the option to start the day watching the first sunrise of November at Belvoir Beach. If you’re feeling brave, there is nothing more invigorating than going for a swim as the sun rises over the sea – trust me, it’s worth it!
- You’ll be back at The White House in time for a shower and hot drink to warm up before our energising morning class
- After class you’ll indulge in a leisurely delicious brunch at The Mermaid, with similar made to order options to choose from on the day
- You’ll need to check out of your room by midday, but you’ll be able to store luggage until your departure.
- We’ll spend the remainder of our time together with a final closing session. Snacks will be served after the class, with time to reflect on a beautiful retreat weekend and enjoy some more island exploration or craft activity before heading back to Guernsey.
- You’ll be able to leave on whichever boat suits you on the Sunday, but to enjoy the full retreat experience without feeling rushed, it’s best if you plan to leave on the 14:35 or 16:35 departure.

Frequently asked questions
What will the classes be like?
Steph’s classes are open to everyone, including beginners, whatever their background, movement experience and ability may be. Her style of teaching is all encompassing and compassionate. It’s ok if you’ve never tried yoga and/or Pilates before. This is a great opportunity to give it a try, but if something isn’t for you, that’s ok too, as all classes are optional.
I’ve never done yoga and/or Pilates before, can I come?
Yes, all classes will be suitable for any level of experience. You will be asked to indicate your experience on the booking form to help Steph plan the classes. This retreat is a chance to try something new, but if you prefer to attend just the yoga classes or just the Pilates classes, that’s ok too.
What’s included in the price?
2 nights accommodation at the 4 star White House Hotel (some rooms may be in the cottages), 2x dinners, 2x brunches and 2x afternoon snacks/smoothies. All classes are included in the price, as well as various other optional activities and tea/coffee refreshments. You will receive a welcome pack and gift voucher on arrival. You’ll also have support from a dedicated Evolution Adventures representative before and during the retreat.
What’s not included in the price?
Travel insurance, the boat ticket to Herm, any food or drinks you wish to have that are not listed above, massage treatments, retreat hoodies/t-shirts and personal spending money.
How do I get to Herm?
Herm is a stunning island off the coast of Guernsey. Open return boat tickets are available for £19 from the Herm Trident ticket office by the Liberation Monument in St Peter Port, Guernsey.
To get to Guernsey, visit aurigny.com for flights from several UK airports and Jersey, or visit condorferries.co.uk for ferry options from Jersey and the UK, or islands-unlimited.com and manche-iles.com for additional ferry options from Jersey, as well as Alderney (Manche-iles).
If you’re travelling to Herm from outside Guernsey and would like to stay in Herm or Guernsey before or after the retreat, contact Natalie, who is a Guernsey local and licensed travel agent, for advice and assistance booking hotels, travel arrangements, dinner reservations, and other experiences in the islands. Email her at natalie@evolution-adventures.com.
What do I need to pack?
You will be sent a suggested packing list nearer to the retreat date. While we hope for sunshine and Herm can be deceptively tropical, you’ll need to be prepared for all weathers, just in case – Herm is a British Island after all! You’ll need to bring your own yoga mat, block and strap (if you have them), sports/gym clothing suitable for yoga and Pilates classes, and trainers or sturdy footwear for any coastal walks you’d like to join, as well as a waterproof coat. Swimwear and suncream are also recommended.
What will the accommodation be like?
There are various rooms available for solo travellers, or couples and friends who want to share. There are options for king sized beds or twin beds in most rooms. All rooms are very comfortable and ensuite. Some also have balconies and sea views. Room preference will be given in order of booking, so be quick if you have your eye on a sea view balcony room!
What will the food be like?
All meals will be served in the Mermaid. Brunch will be a la carte, with some additional self service items and dinner will be pre-ordered before the retreat. The menus will be sent to you nearer the time. There will also be afternoon snacks including fresh fruit, smoothies and other nibbles to complement the activities you choose to do. This is not a detox retreat, so there will be meat, fish and vegetarian options – expect hearty meals! If you have specific dietary requirements or preferences, please state this on your booking form.
Can you cater for any dietary requirements?
Yes, we can accommodate most dietary requirements, including vegetarians, vegans, dairy free and gluten free. Should you have any severe allergies, please let us know, as we may not be able to guarantee a contamination free environment. You will be asked to provide information on any dietary requirements or preferences on your booking form.
Can I share a room with a friend/partner/family member?
Yes you can. Please indicate who you would like to share with on your booking form, and ensure that you select ‘shared room’ at checkout.
Do I have to do all of the yoga and Pilates classes?
No, there will be lots of different classes to choose from, with different styles of practice and difficulty levels. You can participate in as much or as little as you would like. If you have any questions about the classes, please get in touch with us.
Can my friend/partner come if they don’t want to do the classes?
Possibly. Initially, spaces need to be reserved for people who want to participate in the classes, as this is a yoga & Pilates retreat. However, it may be possible to accommodate an additional person who is not joining in with the classes, as long as you are sharing a room with them. Please get in touch to discuss this option before booking.
Do you offer refunds?
No, sorry. All bookings are final and non-refundable, in line with our booking terms. You are advised to obtain travel insurance in case you need to cancel. Please get in touch if you need to cancel your place.
Do I need travel insurance
Yes. It is strongly recommended that you take out travel insurance to cover you for the duration of the retreat in Herm. Bookings are non-refundable if you need to cancel your place.
I have an injury/medical condition. Can I still come on the retreat?
That depends on the nature of the injury/medical condition. If you are concerned about your ability to participate safely in the classes, please get in touch to discuss before completing the booking form. Please also note that you are responsible for obtaining your own travel insurance to attend the retreat, as bookings are non-refundable if you needed to cancel your place.
Will there be any free time during the weekend to explore Herm?
Yes, there will be plenty of time around the classes to explore the island. There will be some optional activities and additional workshops on offer for you to choose from, or you may do your own thing. You’ll receive a timetable in advance so you can plan what you’d like to do. You may also choose to arrive in Herm earlier on the Friday and leave later on the Sunday.
What are the optional activities and how do I book?
Most optional activities will be included in the price and do not require booking. However, if you would like a massage treatment, this will need to be booked in advance, and you’ll be notified of when to do this nearer the time.
Can my child come on the retreat?
The minimum age to participate in the retreat is 16, and anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent/responsible adult aged over 18 for the duration of the retreat. While there are some family rooms available should you need to bring younger children to Herm, a responsible adult would need to look after them while you are participating in the retreat activities. It’s also important that the retreat experience for other guests is not disrupted by young children, so please get in touch with us before booking to discuss the options.
Who can book onto this retreat?
Anyone who would like a weekend reset in a beautiful location. You don’t need to be experienced at yoga or Pilates, as Steph’s classes are suitable for all experience levels.
I have a question that isn’t listed here.
Please contact Natalie by emailing natalie@evolution-adventures.com and she can assist you.
